Which is the y-intercept of the following equation? y = 4x - 6 A. -5 B. 6 C.-6/4 D. 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

remember the general equation y=mx+b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where m= slope b = y-intercept

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

@Donavan, you are asking the same question over and over and over y = mx+b m = slope, b = y intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so whenever they ask for the slope you know that whatever the value of m, is the slope and whatever the value of b is the y-intercept.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@donavan for example... give me the slope and the y-intercept of the equation y= -3x+5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im checking answers and i got B so is that right

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

actually none of them are right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are you getting

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

the answer is -6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mat be its C can that be a fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zzr0ck3r is right. if the equation given to you was y=4x+6 then B would be the right answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y-intercept is where the line passes through the y-axis. the line y=4x-6 passes through -6 not 6.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you sure the equation was 4x-6? not 4x+6?
