why does entropy always increases?

OpenStudy (kainui):

I can give you two answers. Is this a question you have, or an answer you have to answer for homework?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jus had a question in mind..answer plz

OpenStudy (kainui):

Well in that case, I don't know. This is basically like asking, why does something exist rather than nothing? Nobody really knows but it's interesting to think about. Entropy is always increasing because entropy is basically a representation of the organization of things. Everything is constantly becoming more disorganized, and even when you organize things you have to disorganize the surroundings even more than you can organize them. If you could violate entropy you could make machines that were 100% efficient or better and make perpetual motion devices, stuff like that which would be pretty awesome.

thanks a ton...!

OpenStudy (kainui):

Yeah no problem, it's pretty interesting stuff if you have more questions I'd like to try to help out and explain some things.
