Consider the functions f(x) = 3x2 and g(x) = −2x − 5. What is the value of f[g(−4)]? 9 −31 27 3 Question 6 (Multiple Choice Worth 3 points) [3.07] Choose the best description of how to calculate f[g(−4)] if f(x) = 2x + 1 and g(x) = x2 − 10. Calculate f(−4) and g(−4), then multiply them together. Calculate f(−4) and g(−4), then write the results as an ordered pair. Calculate g(−4), plug the result into f(x) and simplify. Calculate f(−4) and g(−4), then subtract them.

Isn't this from a test/quiz?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I don't understand it, so I need help.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

It's against the CoC to help people with test/quiz. Sorry. =/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you expain it to me?

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Nope. I havn't even learn function yet. >_> Ask someone else to explain it to you, such a person with a high ss.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Isaiah.Feynman can you help me?

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

OK sammmm I will solve ONLY one so use it as a sample to solve the rest. First calculate g(-4) (That means substitute -4 for x in g(x). That should give you 3, then substitute 3 for x in f(x) that should give you 27.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Isaiah.Feynman so for the second one, you would plug in -4 where x is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be the third answer choice?

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Yes the final answer is 27. I just explained step by step how I got it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Isaiah.Feynman I mean for question 6. would it be the 3rd answer choice

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Yes

thank you!!!
