magnetism in atoms are produced by electrons..so are the dipoles in an atom because of opposite spin of 2 electrons(spin quantum number)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hi, it depends upon all number of electrons in atom. To make a atom dipole all electrons try to go to +ve filed and nucleus try to go far from +ve field or vice verse. for example, if a atom has 4 electrons and we introduce atom to a +ve charge field than the all electrons (-ve) try to go towards +ve field, however the nucleus (+ve) try to go far away from +ve field due to repulsion. this make a atom dipole and it acts like a magnet.
