PLEASE HELP SO CONFUSED! Angle TUW measure (10x – 7)° and angle VUW measures (5x + 13)°. Find the measure of angle TUV ( picture attached in the comments)

Know your rules for kites?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not very well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the whole kite add up to 360 degrees but that's all I really know

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

http://www.coolmath.com/reference/kites.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how does that help find TUV?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Look for bisectors. This might help a little too. http://www.lavcmath.com/shin/quadrilaterals.pdf

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand the properties I need help putting all the information together I font get how it all goes together and what formulas to use

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Know what it is to bisect an angle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its the line down the middle cutting it in half

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yes. So... what angles are being bisected on that kite?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tuv and twv

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

And you are looking for TUV. So, what is TUV bisected into?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tuv is bisected into tu and uv

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Those are segments. Not angles.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

So to be more clear: When you bisect TUV, what angles do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no idea

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, what line bisects them? The common point on that line is the hinge or middle point of the angle. |dw:1374180922321:dw|

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well that chopped off in the wrong place.... abc is biceted by db. That makes the new angles in that example as cbd and dba.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the new angles in my problem are WTU and WVU?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

t is not in the hinge point.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Take another look at the question and what you have been given and asked. The relationship between what was given and asked should be more clear now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you set (10x-7)=(5x+13) and then solve?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yah.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help guide me with this problem as well? http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/51e85679e4b0d999840e5091

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I have to head out.
