A triangle has two sides that measure 10 in. and 8 in. Which could be the measure of the third side?

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

a right triangle?

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

perhaps... how you can draw out the figure? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answers that i have are A. 20 in. B. 17 in. C. 2 in. D. 1 in.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the 3rd side, the longest side, could be less than the sum of the 2 given sides. or its could be greater than 8 + x > 10 where x is the 3rd side and the longest side in the triangle is 10

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

it just uses the rule, in angle triangle, the sum of the measures of the shorter sides must be greater than the length of the longest side

OpenStudy (nurali):

10-8 < s < 10+8 2 < s < 18 i think 17

Thanks

OpenStudy (nurali):

My pleasure.
