A Midsummer Night's Dream-- What do you see, hear, and notice for the setting of the play? What Greek and Elizabethan references are present?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The setting of the play is quite important to the comical theme that is also present. The play takes place in a wooded, forest type area which is why there is interference from the fairies. The reader "sees" and "hears" everything the fairies are planning, and these events are exactly what confuses the lovers within the story, giving it the comical feel.

I forgot to mention, the Greek references are Theseus and Hippolyta I can't remember the Elizabethan but it was probably performed in front of Queen Elizabeth so you may want to search something along those lines to find that reference
