Normal algebra question: can I somehow factor out the X and Y in this expression? aX+XY+bY becomes either: X(a+Y)+by or Y(b+X)+aX see I can either get one or the other, is there a trick to getting both?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

i dont think its gonna factor nicely

I'm trying to figure out how to "solve" it, if it's even possible. I'm kind of trying to imagine the xy term as almost a squared term to some how solve it "inside-out" not that that makes any sense, but maybe you get what I mean.
