OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, the book is a metaphor for the Russian Revolution. What do you need help with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Consider a possible message, moral, or lesson of your story: The need for a leader and/or someone to follow. Explain how this theme relates to the story's situations and characters. Explain how this theme might apply to all people, everywhere. For example, if a possible theme for your story was, "We sometimes think that we want something until we get it, and realize it is not what we wanted after all," then explain how this idea might apply to another situation outside of your story.

Honestly, if you have the time. Read the book. It was amazing. If not, sparknotes works wonders.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^ agree on both

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I read the book but its difficult to understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/animalfarm/ this is a fantastic website to help you understand what the book represents...but in order to fully understand it you need to work through the book with the notes

http://voices.yahoo.com/animal-farm-depth-analysis-overlying-themes-345222.html Here is a good Analysis of it. Might help as well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks

http://www.gradesaver.com/animal-farm/ This is also a great website Though I will say [though it's common sense really] be careful not to just repeat what the websites say, otherwise you will end up as the same essay as everyone else... and that won't get you a good grade :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks so much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so bunch of animal overthrew their human master and started their own goverment. Turns out they were harsher than human interms of treament of other animal. It is take on communism

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i love how one of the animals is named Napoleon. god the irony ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

he was the pig who ran the farm, didn't he. and there was a horse who works himself to death

OpenStudy (anonymous):

he was a boar he always got his way and in my opinion was the villain of this story!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Trai7 The main point of the book is how Orwell introduces the concept of communism, and he uses the animals as a metaphor for dictatorship around the Russian Revolution (circa 1917 I think) and then touches on Stalin....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sarahusher isnt there a french version of this book?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep there is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now i might i have to go find it and read it :O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think there are two different versions as in Napoleon has different names, I think in one he is called 'Napoleon' and in another one he's called 'Cesar' after Caesar..... Probably interesting to read and compare them...:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea those french people were very cruel and intersecting in that time era (no offence if you are french )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha no offence taken [I'm not French]
