Divide the second number by the first number. What do you get?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-3
OpenStudy (mathstudent55):
Good.
Now divide the third number by the second number. What do you get?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
same ans cuz its the common ratio
OpenStudy (mathstudent55):
Correct.
Now that you know the common ratio, multiply the last number you have by the common ratio to get the next number.

Keep on doing it until you get to the 10th number.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ohh right keep doing that until I get to the 10th term!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I got -15309?
OpenStudy (mathstudent55):
Since you have 5 terms, and you need the 10th, and all you need to do is multiply each term by -3 to get the next one, this is not too much work. If you needed to come up with the 215th term, then there is a formula you can use.
