True or False ? If you have a line RS and a point Q not on RS, then there are two lines that can be drawn through point Q that are parallel to line RS.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

false. theres no way the line could go two ways and not intersect or become perpendicular to the line RS

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

@jacobbb1 it IS possible if you are talking about Riemann Geometry, but that's super-advanced stuff

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

I believe that it is false.

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

sorry, my fault. You should be taking about HYPERBOLIC GEOMETRY if you want to get two lines parallel to a third one and also pass through a point that is not on the third line.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

false for Euclidian geometry

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

For Riemann Geometry, no line can parallel to another line.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

It can only intersect as to being a line that is already crossing at the centre of the line.
