Can someone please help me with some school work? My rectangular box is 8in long, 2in wide, and 1in tall with a volume of 16 cubic inches. Rewrite the formula, V=lwh, using the variable x for the length. Substitute the value of the volume and express the width and height in terms of x plus or minus a constant. I got 16 = x(x - 6)(x - 7) when filled everything in as x. But it needs to be in standard form. I also need help on how to find the solutions to this equation.

great work, now just multiply the three terms on the right hand side and move the 16 over to that side. You'll get an equation of the form\[Ax^3+Bx^2+Cx+D = 0\]

you'd get\[x^3-13x^2+42x-16 = 0 \]which is in standard form

check out this page, read it patiently and things would make a lot of sense. https://www.dpmms.cam.ac.uk/~wtg10/cubic.html
