solve linear inequalities 7-4/5x<3/5

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

you solve them just like how you solve with the "equal" sign. except that when you divide by negative (-) to get your x, you are going to need to flip the sign from < to >

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the deal with multiplying the whole equation by 5?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

similarly when you're given is > then it would have to be flipped to < and the same follows for ≥ to ≤ and ≤ to ≥

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

you do that to get rid of the denominator, basically to make it easier for you to work with whole numbers, unless you feel like solving them with fractions.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

you should have encountered the same with the equation, like I said earlier. :)

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

you can multiply it by 5.....then your left with whole numbers. But don't forget what nincompoop said, when dividing by a negative, the sign changes.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

do you want to go over this inequality?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

I would rather have you take a shot at it first to see where you're struggling.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nincompoop, sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i multiply by 5 first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nin are you here?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

sorry I was doing something
