please I really need help factoring these 1.x2 – 8x + 15 2.a2 – a – 20 3.a2 – 5a – 20 4.a2 + 12ab + 27b2 5.2a2 + 30a + 100

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well factoring look at the constant in question 1 find the factors of 15 that add to -8, they are both negative. 2. find the factors of -20 that add to -1, the larger factor is negative and the smaller is positive just keep looking at the factors of the constant

I t if someone could give me the awnsers then tell me how to do it from there it wouldhelp

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well look at the 1st one (x + factor 1)(x + factor 2) what what are the factors of 15 that add to -8 if both factors are negative what would you answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3 -5

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

there is the 1st one done (x -3)(x - 5) now the next factors of 20 that add to -1, the larger factor is negative... what would you answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 -5

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

yep so its (a - 5)(a + 4)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

3. doesn't factor 4. look at 2 factors that multiply to 27 and to 12 5. take out 2 as a common factor \[2(x^2 + 15x + 50)\] then find 2 factors of 50 that add to 15.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

for question 4 its (a + factor1 b)(a + factor 2 b)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for #5 just x+5 and x+10

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

thats it make sure you write them in brackets

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

hope this helped

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

and with question 5 write it as 2(x +5)(x +10)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks
