Help please!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can someone explain deductive reasoning for me please?

OpenStudy (primeralph):

"Deduce" = draw conclusions from other given parameters. For example, I give you the following info: got long hair, got boobs, wide hips, soft voice. You can make a deduction that the person is probably a woman/female.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha alright thank you! And greaaat example by the way ha :)

OpenStudy (primeralph):

But in math, it's usually like this: x is a number, x is less than 4, x is greater than 3, x is in the area of a circle, x is infinite in precision. You're probably thinking "pi". So you can deduce from the info that x is probably pi.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Yeah, that's a classic example, you know. I'm a guy, so, yeah.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Gotcha! Thanks! and yeah I know it's what guys are thinking 27/7 anyway...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24/7 haha

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Not really 24/7, I got a life, I do stuff and all too. I just wanted to keep it natural. Didn't mean to be offensive though. It's just easier explaining stuff like that before introducing you to the real deal in math. That's how I teach; basic/everyday stuff before the hard stuff.
