http://learn.flvs.net/webdav/assessment_images/educator_ushistory/v12/03_09_61.jpg What effect did these innovations have on the war? They made the war last longer than previous wars. They made secret operations extremely important. They led to rapid changes in the size of armies. They resulted in higher casualty rates than in the past.

Alrighty, this is a really cool question. The main effect of these innovations was extension of the war in time, if that makes sense. Some of the key/main battles in WW1 took months, huge amounts of time, because of trench warfare. Basically, the opposing sides just holed themselves and stood almost at armstice - the battles were waaay less direct than before and allowed opposing armies to continually 'restock' their supply of soldiers instead of forcing a win/loss. To give an example of the length, the battle of Verdun lasted about 11 months. Higher casualty rates would also be applicable.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all options are similar difficult to choose.but im thinking

OpenStudy (wach):

Out of those, the first option is probably best, followed by the last. Length was the most dramatic effect from those innovations, followed by high casualties.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so which would it be definitely

OpenStudy (wach):

I actually might go with the last option, because upon looking at the options again, I think they might be referring to length of the war and not battle length in the first. Casualty rates heightened is probably the best choice.

d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Go with the casualty rates one (: Have a great day!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the options given are all happend in the war but we have to choose the effects of bombs etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They made secret operations extremely important.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so which is definite can u give me your reason

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d. Wars had gone on for an extremely long time in the past (100 years war went for like 116) but never before had casualty rates been so high. Millions died in WWI

OpenStudy (wach):

Covert operation was more important in WW2. The thing that was most significantly impacted was casualty rates. ^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thx i have another

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bcoz its a preplanned war due to bombs, missiles etc
