OpenStudy (bekkah323):

factor: 2x^4-12x^3+x-6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how to find all possible values of the factors using the leading term and the constant?

OpenStudy (bekkah323):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@bekkah323 : have you got the answer ? :)

OpenStudy (bekkah323):

yes my book says its (2x^3+1)(x-6) i just don't know how they got there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay the best way to find out possible values for roots is to take the leading term, along with all of its factors, and place them all over the constant value and its factors. Do you understand this?

OpenStudy (bekkah323):

no

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

you split the problem in two parts as follows: (2x^4 - 12x^3) + (x-6)

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

now what is the LCF on the first part ??

OpenStudy (bekkah323):

2x^3

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

correct, so you have 2x^3 (x-6) + 1(x-6)

OpenStudy (bekkah323):

i see it now, thank you!!!

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

now that is the same as (2x^3 +1)(x-6)

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

yw :)
