HELP!!! WILL REWARD MEDAL!!!!!!!!!! In this lesson, you have learned about the causes and effects of the economic boom that took place in the United States after the end of World War II. You learned that while the boom was widespread and led to many positive changes for some Americans, not everyone was content with these changes or shared in them equally.

fIn each respective space on the chart, write a minimum of two sentences that summarize how the postwar boom affected three groups: veterans, women, and African Americans. Indicate the following for each group: what they gained as a result of World War II what challenges they faced at the end of the war what progress they made in the years after the war your prediction of the struggles they would face in the following years

OpenStudy (wach):

Well, what do you think so far?

OpenStudy (falco276):

IDK.

OpenStudy (wach):

Let's first think of women: - they produced ammunition and were employed during the war, what with the lack of males in the population = more economic power - at the end of the war, many women were forced from their jobs because of return of male soldiers - in the years after the war, women generally had more economic power which raised their status in society - still some cultural stigma against women

OpenStudy (falco276):

um, okay.

OpenStudy (wach):

Sorry?

OpenStudy (falco276):

I understand.

OpenStudy (wach):

Okay.

OpenStudy (falco276):

Thanks. :)

OpenStudy (wach):

The Civil Rights movement followed WW2, roughly, though it wasn't necessarily an effect of the war. One thing you should think about for African Americans, though, is the idea of white flight. So basically after WW2, there were a lot of veterans and demand for housing, so the first suburbs were built, and many whites 'fled' inner cities and the predominantly African American people who lived in those areas; this was sort of racist and may have contributed to the Civil Rights movement, but mostly it was just bad, economically and socially.

OpenStudy (wach):

What do you think African Americans may have gained / lost as a result of the war?

OpenStudy (falco276):

IDK :(
