a factor in leading many Germans to accept Hitler and the Nazis was
Mostly economic reasons, which resulted in desperation of sorts. Think about it: Germany is ravaged with debt after WW1, mostly from the French - a HUGE economic depression, and people are desperate. A group comes along and takes over the government system, but their message praises the German whites and though it's a bit of a twisted image, there's so much desperation - their message is almost hopeful. (So, mostly economic desperation).
wach's answer is generally right. A big driver that ravaged the economy of Germany was the Treaty of Versailles and the brutal reparations it enforced. Germany was essentially made not only to shoulder the blame for the war but also made to pay for it which crushed it with debt and made its money worthless for a time. There are pics out there of people with wheelbarrows filled with reichsmarks going to stores to buy a loaf of bread. That's how bad it had gotten and it was the kind of humiliation that bred the seeds of nationalism, hatred, and revenge that played into Hitler's hands in the 30s. Things actually started looking up during the Weimar Republic, albeit shakily, but when the Great Depression hit and US bankers started calling in loans for cash, that cut a lot of the finances behind Germany's industries off at the knees resulting in mass unemployment and and even more desperate situation.
