A small piece of mRNA has the following sequence AUG ACC CCC GGG AGA UGA what is the sequence of amino acids that this piece of RNA codes for?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk this one im sorry im only in biology sorry idk this ill try and look it up for you

OpenStudy (goldeverything):

i could tell you how to do the whole problem but i think it would help you more if i just gave you a link to solve it http://www.hgvs.org/mutnomen/codon.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok I looked at the site you provided and I am even more confused

OpenStudy (goldeverything):

im sorry but i can't really help you alot right now i have to finish my stuff

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats your options

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't have any options I have to figure out the sequence

Here, take a look at this amino acid chart: http://biochem.co/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/amino-acid-table-singlet-code.png It shows us how to use mRNA codons, and translate them into amino acids. You know that codons are groups of three letters, right? So let's look at the first codon in your mRNA......(AUG) Now, let's look at the amino acid chart.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the first letter (A) on the LEFT side. Find the second letter (U) at the TOP. Find the third letter (G) on the RIGHT side. You can find the place where all three letters cross with one another. (AUG) codes for (Met) Can you find that?

Thank you so much!!! I got it.
