can anyone help me with the steps? Which do I distribute and which do I isolate? -2(x-3)≥ 5 -(x+3)
distribute the -2 to x and -3
distribute the - or -1 to x and +3
You distribute both values and then solve. -2(x-3)≥ 5 -(x+3) This can become: -2x+6 ≥ 5-x-3 Now we can add 2x to each side: 6 ≥ 5+x-3 Add 3 to 6: 9 ≥ 5+x Now subtract 5: 4 ≥ x
then isolate the xs to one side and numbers to the other side
Wouldnt I combine like terms on the second line?
the 5 and -3?
@flixoe what happened to adding the 2x to both sides.... x+2x=3x?
You can simplify inequalities and equations in many different methods. @mary.rojas I just keep them both negative then get rid of the larger negative to give the other side a positive x value.
seems like a short cut 4≥x is correct
oh ok :)
I feel like I missed a step
where?
I was adding 2x to both sides
That's what you are supposed to do. Were both your x values negative after distributing?
no positive ive done this 3 ways and got a diff answer everytime LOL
Thanks everyone
