How can I solve x + 3y=12 5x+ y =4 by substitution?

First you get a variable by it's self in this case you I think it would be easier making the y by it's self by subtracting -5x to both sides leaving you with y = 4-5x so then you "substitute" or in other words plug back in the equation to the first equation 1x + 3(4-5x) = 12 can you go from here? :)
