is the term (x+2) a factor of f(x)=x^3-10x^2+27x-12

OpenStudy (psymon):

You would need to divide x^3 - 10x^2 + 27x - 12 by x+2 and see if you have a remainder. if there is no remainder then it is a factor.

I did that but I got a really weird answer

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

use the remainder theorem

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if -2 is a root of f(x), then x+2 is a factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks :)
