Why atom is a neutral particle?

OpenStudy (festinger):

Atoms are neutral because whatever positive charge they have in the nucleus are balanced by the electrons around the nucleus which forms the atoms!

OpenStudy (austinl):

Atoms are neutral because the charge of the Protons is counteracted by the charge of the Electrons. Neutrons have no bearing. The only atoms that have a charge are Ions.

thank you vry much

OpenStudy (jmark):

Because protons have positive charge; electrons have negative charge but neutrons do not have any charge, since they are neutral. Know more about Structure of an Atom at http://chemistry.tutorvista.com/inorganic-chemistry/structure-of-an-atom.html
