Euclid’s Postulates Writing Activity Euclid’s Elements includes five postulates on which the rest of geometry is based. They are: 1. Let it have been postulated to draw a straight-line from any point to any point. 2. And to produce a finite straight-line continuously in a straight-line 3. And to draw a circle with any center and radius 4. And that all right-angles are equal to one another 5. And that if a straight-line falling across two (other) straight lines makes internal angles on the same side (of itself) less than two right-angles, being produced to infinity, the two (other) straight-lines meet on that side (of the original straight-line) that the (internal angles) are less than two right-angles (and do not meet on the other side). Write the first four postulates in your own words. Draw a diagram illustrating the postulate. Example Euclid’s fifth postulate can be re-written as: If a transversal cuts across two lines and both same-side interior angles are acute, then the two lines will meet on that side of the transversal.   1. Let it have been postulated to draw a straight-line from any point to any point. In your own words: Illustration: 2. And to produce a finite straight-line continuously in a straight-line. In your own words: Illustration: 3. And to draw a circle with any center and radius In your own words: Illustration: 4. And that all right-angles are equal to one another In your own words: Illustration:

I gotta say, this is probably not the kind of problem you can get much help with. You really just need to read and understand each postulate, then rephrase it in your own words and draw a picture.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That being said, this problem has a strange way of wording them. You might have a better time understanding the way it's phrased here: http://mathworld.wolfram.com/EuclidsPostulates.html

well thanks anyways you are probably right.. its a difficult question and anyways possible anybody could help me that would be amazing! but thanks SmoothMath. (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, it says, "In your own words," which means that you should read and reread until you understand and then rephrase it "in your own words."

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

This is more of a go to the library or Wikipedia research type question.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Just sit down and draw diagrams of each postulate. Think about questions to test them. Then try to convince yourself of an answer to them. This is what math is all about.

lol thank you ill try

Have fun :-)
