Which statement that best explains the difference between Phoebe Palmer's prayer meetings and Charles Finney's camp meetings? The prayer meetings were open to members of all Christian churches. The camp meetings included only members of one Christian faith. The prayer meetings focused on social causes like temperance or abolition. The camp meetings were only concerned with religious matters. The prayer meetings were attended by more educated and literate city dwellers. The camp meetings were attended by mostly less-educated people who lived in the countryside. The prayer meetings were calm discussions where people could reflect on their faith and values. The camp meetings were loud, emotional events where people would recharge their religious convictions.
This is what the lesson says: Evangelical leaders like Charles Finney encouraged followers to help other people confront their own sins as well. In this way, they believed, they could remake society as well as individuals. The emphasis on following an inspiring religious leader led to the growth of many existing Christian denominations and the creation of many more. Other leaders of the Second Great Awakening, like Phoebe Palmer, emphasized reflecting on one's own faith over testifying sins to others, but also believed society would improve as more people studied their faith.

That excerpt is of no help at all.
Finney: >The emphasis on following an inspiring religious leader led to the growth of many existing Christian denominations Palmer: >Other leaders of the Second Great Awakening, like Phoebe Palmer, emphasized reflecting on one's own faith over testifying sins to others, but also believed society would improve as more people studied their faith
What do you think we can conclude from that?
I would have to say D myself, but I am no genius...
It's not D nor A. Finney talks about making society a better place, however, Palmer talks about reflecting on religious matters. Hmm... I wonder which one it could be. Look at these exerts Finney >In this way, they believed, they could remake society as well as individuals Palmer >emphasized reflecting on one's own faith over testifying sins to others, but also believed society would improve as more people studied their faith .
B?
Correct ~
why temperance and abolition?
Temperance and abolition are social issues, correct? Finney believed that by confronting your sins and bettering the individual, then as a whole, society will benefit. Temperance and abolition where big things back in those days.
There were a lot of Women's Rights movements and temperance marches going on in those days.
ohhhhhh okay
thank you
Hope this makes sense. ~~
