Use this passage to answer the following question. History of Woman Suffrage Excerpt from the Introduction Edited by Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, and Matilda Joselyn Gage It is often asserted that as woman has always been man's slave—subject—inferior—dependent, under all forms of government and religion, slavery must be her normal condition. This might have some weight had not the vast majority of men also been enslaved for centuries to kings and popes, and orders of nobility, who, in the progress of civilization, have reached complete equality. In this text, the author argues against the idea that because women's lives were always hard they should consider that normal. Which answer best explains how she argues against this idea? She argues that men's lives would not be any better than women's without their having the ability to vote. She argues that people who have difficult lives should be given the power to improve their position in life. She argues that men have been responsible for most of the suffering in the world because they are usually the leaders and rulers. She argues that because men have overcome difficult lives—including slavery—that suffering should not be considered normal for women.
