Can someone help me solve for Y for this equation. After i solve for Y i need to graph. x=1\2y^2+y-2 I know that I'm supposed to add two to each side, and then complete the square on the right, but i just don't understand..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x=\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }y ^{2}+y-2\] This is the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but we have intructions to put the equation into the calcualtor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so they want us to solve for Y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the anser the book gives me is \[-1+-\sqrt{2(x+2.5)}\]
