John is going to rent a tent to go camping. The cost to rent a camping tent from Woodland Outfitters is a flat rate of $12.00 plus $2.00 for each night the tent is rented. Part a. Let x represent the number of nights John keeps the tent and write a cost function, c(x), for the cost to rent a tent from Woodland Outfitters. Part b. How much will John owe if he uses the tent for three nights? I am confuzeled.
answer: c(x)=12+x
What about part b? .-.

Okay. c:
@ms7 Your equation is not correct.
You have to pay $12 just to get the tent. If you actually use it you have to pay an additional 2 dollars for each night. For 1 night it would cost you 12+2 or $14 For 2 nights it would cost you 12 +2(2) or $16 For 3 nights it would cost you 12 +2(3) or $18 For x nights it would cost you 12 +2(x) or 12+2x dollars
thanks @gypsy1274 its actually c(x) = 2x + 12 sorry i messed up
Thank you. c:
no problem
@ms7 I've made my share of typo's too. The question is: Does @MagicalPoke understand how to figure it out?
12 +2(x) All you do is plug in the number of nights into x, right?
Yes. Do you understand where the equation came from?
Yes, from the problem $12.00 and $2.00 for each night tent is rented, then x being the number of nights the tent is rented.
Fantastic!
Thanks for the help.
