Sorry, Write the equation using x for the number of nickels.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
5n +35d =3.75
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Jimmy has seven times as many dimes as nickels ->d = 7n
OpenStudy (anonymous):
We know that nickels are worth $0.05 and dimes are worth $0.10 -> 0.05n + 0.10d = 3.75

i see .05n +.10d=3.75
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Now, substitute.
You want to know the number of nickels so substitute 7n for d in the second equation.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
0.5+.10 7n=3.75
OpenStudy (texaschic101):
I would put that 7n in parenthesis so you don't get confused
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok .5+.10(7n)=3.75

Your answer was correct so I'll write out the equations for you.
\(d = 7n\) and \(0.1d + 0.05n=3.75\)
\(0.1(7n)+0.05n=3.75\)
\(0.75n=3.75\)
\(n=5\)

ok thank you.
