what is a genotype

OpenStudy (zale101):

it's the genetic make-up

OpenStudy (zale101):

The genotype shows how the of letters that are upper(dominant) or lower case(recessive), and what kind of alleles an organism has.

thomaster (thomaster):

\(\Huge\bf \color{black}{Welcome~to~OpenStudy!!}\hspace{-310pt}\color{black}{Welcome~to~OpenStudy!!}\hspace{-307.1pt}\color{#ff7100}{Welcome~to~\color{#00B4ff}{Open}}\color{#7cc517}{Study!!}\) The genotype is how a genetic code describes a specific trait, let's say eye color. The eye color will be the phenotype. Blue eye color is recessive and brown eye color is dominant. So like @Zale101 said, the dominant color has uppercase letter (let's say the letter B) and recessive has a lowercase, so b. We have a combination of 2 letters that make up the genotype, 1 from each parent. When someone gets a B from the mother and a b from the father, (s)he will have brown eyes, since B is dominant over b. The genotype is Bb. The phenotype is brown eyes. When someone gets a b from both parents, the genotype will be bb and the phenotype will be blue eyes. I hope this helps \(\Huge\ddot\smile\)

I don't like it at all.
