just set y to zero for the y intercept
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok now what do i do for the x's just plug stuff in?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh i mean, y to zero for x intercept
OpenStudy (anonymous):
then you just solve for x
OpenStudy (anonymous):
that will be your x intercept

i dont get what you mean
OpenStudy (anonymous):
at x=0, y =-10
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i will let the others explain it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
im still confused

i thought others would answer...

to find out the intercept of y, you set x to 0 and vice versa
OpenStudy (anonymous):
understand?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeah
OpenStudy (anonymous):
step 2: when you set x to 0, you solve for y
OpenStudy (anonymous):
do this

umm i got -187...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i think i did it wrong....

y=2x^2-8x-10
OpenStudy (anonymous):
another way you could do this is by typing the equation into your calculator. When you graph the function, you can press 2nd Graph on your ti84 and scroll down to where x=0, you will see at x=0, y= -10 (check this by plugging in 0 to your equation for x. Likewise if you scroll down the table to y =0, you will see that x =5

i will let rogersmith take over

ok i dont know how i did this but i wrote down the wrong problem when i went to solve... my bad
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok then, i hope you found the solution!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok for y i got -10
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i got what to do for y now how do i do that for x
OpenStudy (anonymous):
to find out the intercept of y, you set x to 0 and vice versa
