I think part of the problem is missing.

For \(y = \dfrac{x-3}{x-4}\), the horizontal asymptote is y = 1. Since the degree of the numerator is the same as the degree of the denominator, simply observe the leading coefficients. As they are both '1', we have 1/1 = 1 and y = 1 is the conclusion.
