That depends on one's definition of "living". If the the ability to replicate by itself (like biological cells) is the characteristic of "living", then bacteria is living because it can do so. Virus is "not living" because they have to attach themselves to a host to replicate. Also bacteria can metabolize food and viruses don't.That depends on one's definition of "living".
