OpenStudy (meilendurcer):

In the figure below, lines r and s are parallel. What is the measure of angle three? Explain how you know.

OpenStudy (meilendurcer):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

remember what I told you about supplementery and complementARY

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Angle 3 and the angle = 10x have the same measurements they are vertical angles The angle = 10x and the angle = 4x + 42 are corresponding angles so they are equal So set up your equation: 10x = 4x +42 x=7 Now substitute x = 7 to angle = 10x so 10 times 7=70 So 70 degrees is your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@meilendurcer get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10x=4x+42 -4 -4 6x=42

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 6x }{ 6} =\frac{ 42 }{ 6 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because the two equations correspond... so does 6 and 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@meilendurcer can i get a medal? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so lets say you have ten x... a common mistake I make is to for get to plug in the x 10x... or 10(7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1375205262900:dw| most of the time they are equal since they correspond
