how would this be solved by graphing, factoring, the quadratic formula, and by completing the square. x2–3x–4 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm assuming the (x2) is supposed to be \[x ^{2}\]the solution will be found by factoring.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is because 2 numbers multiplied together will give you an answer of (-4). and those same numbers added together would give you (-3).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x-_)(x+_)=0 can you find the two numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4 and 1? @montelbaun

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct!

and you can always check your answer by using FOIL method and seeing if you receive the same answer that you started with. it is always good to check your work!
