Suzie is five years older than her brother, Michael. Write an expression to represent the sum of their ages of Michael's age is represented by x.
first lets assume michael is 5, how old would suzie be?
10 ?
@agentc0re
Yes, that's correct. If you could write that in it's most basic form of a math equation, how would you?
I have no idea ? x+10??
No no, i mean in just our example.
I dont know how
5+5 right? If Michael was 5, and we know that Suzie is 5 years older then michael, we find her age by adding, 5+5(michaels age). Right?
ohh ok so the expression would be 5+5 ?
For the final answer
For our example, correct-o-mundo! BUT, if we wanted to create an expression that would be for any age that michael "could" be we would then just replace 5 with a variable. This would allow us to choose any value!
but, In this problem the answer is 5+5 right ?
No, no. That was just if Michael was at the age 5. If michael's age is not 5, but instead he is age "x"...how would you re-write that?
x+5 ?
I tried this answer and it was wrong ...
That is the correct answer, as I see it. Maybe you need to represent suzies age as another variable like "y". y=5+x
idkk.. that doesn't look correct to me
i only have one attempt on this quiz and dont want to get it wrong again
