Find the derivative of the function. sec q + csc q/csc q. I have the answer but I don't know how to get to it my self, can someone please show me the steps?

OpenStudy (psymon):

Wait, cscq/cscq? = 1? O.o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I just figured it cancels out but the answer is dp/dq=sec^2q

OpenStudy (psymon):

Which is only possible if the original function is tanq, since derivative of tanq = sec^2(q)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well this was a test question and that was the correct answer choice our teacher gave us :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Isn't the derivative of sec is sec x tan x? Does that have something to do with it?

OpenStudy (psymon):

Yeah, secx becomes secx tanx. But to have that random csc divided by csc is weird.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol okay, thanks for trying!

If you're still there I have another derivative questions?
