if a is 10 percent higher than b, and ac is 32 percent greater than bd, then c is what percent greater than d?
@oldrin.bataku please help :3
please help :I
Just write out what you know, you know that a is 10% higher than b So b = (1.1)a now can you get the formula we need?
not really....
Well if you have ac * what = bd
See how I converted the 10% into 1.1.
nope..... i thought 10% is only .1
Well yes but if A is 10% higher than B then A must be higher number than B. And if B is 1 then A must be 1.1. Do you understand that?
ohhh now i do
Okay so if ac is 32% more than bd what is the mathematical formula?
see those formulas are what got me stuck.....
Well the wording is the same as the one I did a is 10 percent higher than b Then A (1.1) = B ac is 32 percent higher than bd Then AC( ? ) = BD
ummm AC(1.32)=BD ?
Yup!
Okay now we need to substitute the first equation in to the 2nd equation If A (1.1) = B and you have the formula AC(1.32) = BD Then you cano swap B for A (1.1). Do you understand that?
yess
Alright so you write that new formula.
wait so does that mean c is 22% greater than D?
AC=(Ax1.1)D
Well no sorry just follow the formula, it will tell you what you need to know at the end :p & you are missing the 1.32 from your formula.
oh AC(1.32)=A(1.1)D
Yup, now you can divide by A to make it become C(1.32) = d(1.1) and now you are trying to find how much greater C is than D So which side are you going to make 1 * (C or D)?
make dx1?
Yup.
so like do u do \[d =\frac{ C \times1.32}{ 1.1 } \] ?
Yes.
then how do you do that? or just leave it like that?
well I would do 1.32/1.1 on my calculator first and then convert that back into a percentage.
umm i got 1.2 so 120%?
Yeah, it would be 120% but percent grater is C than D?
so C is 120% greater than D?
No sorry, think of C as 120% and D as 100% now how much greater is C than D?
oh!! 20%
Yes!
thanks!! :)
Your welcome :D
ummm can you check my answer for another question?
Sure
if 3/5 of m and if q is 9/10 of m, then, when q≠0, the ratio p/q is equal to what value? i got (2/3)
Is p supposed to be in the equation? I don't see it.
of sorry here: if p is 3/5 of m and if q is 9/10 of m, then, when q≠0, the ratio p/q is equal to what value?
I get 3/2 :o
:o....
Nope sorry I was flipped around, I agree with you!
thanks ^^
Your welcome :D
back to my english hw now >.> spending my summer in tutoring :-:
Ouch, well good luck with the rest of your homework, I'm going to bed :D Good bye!
