what were the economic conditions of Germany when Hitler came into rule

OpenStudy (falco276):

hi :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sup

OpenStudy (falco276):

U.S History. I know. were both doing the same subject. XD ok here it is: Paying war reparations from WWI crippled the German economy. Which was the desired efect, destroy tour enemy's economy and they can't raise another army against you for a long time. This and less than the best decisions by the president of the Weimar Republic led to a series of inflationary episodes, the first actually studies was the one of 1921-23. Brought on By London's insistence in a paymenrt od 2,000,000,000 (2 billion) Gold Marks which left the german treasury pretty much depleted. And the Weimar government blamed the problem on war reparations, thus demonizing Britain and France. They also blamed bankers and speculators, especially the Jewish ones. Hitler's only literary effort, Mein Kampf merely built on these existing hatreds.

medal? :)

Or, an easier way of saying all that, haha. The reason why Hitler became so popular is because of Germany's horrible state after WWI. Their economy was very poor due to war repercussions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so then what about Mussolini when he came to power?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i was eating lunch

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know much about Mussolini, but, here's an educated guess. After World War II, Germany was basically super in the dumps. Hitler may have raised it during his reign but towards the end, things got real bad. The economy of Germany was poor, if not, poorer, because now Germany was split into two parts. West Germany, which was nice and friendly and was shared between the United Nations, and then there was East Germany which was basically a pellet hole. So. I'm guessing it was pretty bad...

im talking about pre ww2 but after ww1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah, sorry. Don't know much about that period.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well thanks anyways
