OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

(2x-4)(x+5) simplify.

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

just simplify using the FOIL method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(ax+c)(bx+d) = (ab)x^2 + (bc)x+(ad)x + cd Try applying that and let me know what you get!

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

First Outside Inside Last

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

right! @sarahusher (2x-4)(x+5) 2x^2+10x-4x-20

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

if you combine like terms, what will you get @jenniferjuice ?

OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

i got 2x^2 + 6x^2 - 20

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

no it would just be 6x because the two are like terms. but if you take out the exponent, you are correct!

OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

so it would be 2x^2+6x-20 ?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Check it yourself by factoring it.

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

yes that is right

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

and you would check that by factoring like @skullpatrol patrol said. lol sorry for providing the answer :P

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

does that make sense @jenniferjuice ?

OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

yes.

OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

thankyou! :)
