It entersthrough your nostril (or nare), then goes through the pharynx (upper part of your throat where it meets your nasal passages), down through the larynx (where your vocal cords are), then to the bronchus, is divided by the hylum (where your one bronchus splts into smaller tubes (bronchi) that lead to each of your lungs). The bronchi continue to get smaller and more plentiful as more and more branches form (these are the bronchioles), and end in alveoli. The alveoli are surrounded by capillaries, and since each of these are a single-cell layer thick (increadibly thin!), the oxygen and carbon dioxide can pass from the alveolus to the blood (and CO2 comes out the other way).
