Which measure of central tendency would best describe the data: 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, and 49? Why? Why wouldn't the other three tendencies not be good describers of the data?
What are you're answer choices cause I do not really understand the question
The answer choices are the central tendencies, which are: range, mean, mode, median.
range is not a measure of central tendecy; midrange is
@amistre64 Thank you for pointing that out. Was about to say that :-]
In my question, it says that those four are the central tendencies, and I don't have a clue what's going on.
you might want to go over the definitions for the options then
also, review what an outlier is
I know what an outlier is and what mean, median, mode, and range are.
then you should know whats going on in the question :)
the outlier distorts the mean, there is no mode to speak of, and range isnot a measure of central tendency
I don't get what "best describes the data" mean. That's what I need help in.
if you have 5 teenagers and 1 old guy ... what is the best discription of the average age of the group?
The teenagers ages, because there is more of the teenagers, than the one old guy. So this would be.. the median?
correct
Thank you so much! c:
good luck ;)
