find the perimeter of triangle XYZ

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer choices are

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

do you know how to find the distance between two points @vivian_5 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

ok if we have two points \[(x_0,y_0), and (x_1,y_1)\] the distance between them is given by \[distance = \sqrt{(x_0-x_1)^2+(y_0-y_1)^2}\]

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

you need to find the three different lengths of the triangle's sides and add them up ill show you how to find the shortest one, then you can do the same thing for the other 2 the shortest one is between (3,1) and (6,3) do you see that?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

@vivian_5 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

stay with me since im helping you...

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

so to find the shortest length we use those two points and the formula I showed you \[distance = \sqrt{(x_0-x_1)^2+(y_0-y_1)^2}=\sqrt{(6-3)^2+(3-2)^2}= \sqrt{9+4}=\sqrt{13}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

so what are the other two lengths?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

but you understand how I get that one?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

so do the same thing....we are not here to do it for you.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):
