Well that is the key to your problem...the rule that you used has a name... it is probably the title of the section you are studying and its name is most definitely in the lesson...It's the Law of _________

oh i think i figured out what i did wrong, its supposed to be cos36 not sin

Yep because you are using what is known as the Law of Cosines!
