how do you graph f(x)=-(x-1)^2+4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basic graph is a parabola this one opens down since the leading coefficient is negative (it is \(-1\)) also you can see from the form that the vertex is \((1,4)\) so anchor it there

@satellite73

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont kno how graph period

OpenStudy (mathmate):

You can graph \( x^2 \) the -1 coefficient means a reflection about the x axis, the -1 is a translation to the right by 1 unit, and finally the +4 is a translation upwards by 4 units. Put them all together will give you exactly what Satellite73 described.

o yeah i fully understand, thank you fellas...lol

what is this? does it coordinate with my original problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

parabola that opens down looks like this |dw:1375753727716:dw|
