Which one of the following is true about the subject line of a thread? A. It is a long block of code that is unseen to the reader. B. It is the first thing readers will see and should encourage them to open the thread. C. It should be a lengthy description of the contents of a thread. D. It should give credit to the person who typed the thread as well as its author.

OpenStudy (opcode):

I've never heard of a, "subject line" in forums. So I take when you say thread you mean e-mail? If so, I think the answer to your question is: B. It is the first thing readers will see and should encourage them to open the thread.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@opcode It probably means like in a BBS: http://www.aapm.org/bbs/userguide/posting.asp

OpenStudy (opcode):

Huh. Well I still stand by what I said :P.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I was not disagreeing with the answer part. Hehe. I agree with that. Just pointing out where a thread subject exists outside of email.

OpenStudy (opcode):

The Subject line, reminds me of the topic/title line in XenForo or MyBB/VB. I've rarely heard it called subject, it serves the same purpose so I guess it just another name for the field.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

It is the original name, to be exact. Goes back to TBBS and similar pre-Internet BBS programs. Was the same on Maximus-CBCS.

OpenStudy (opcode):

Hehe, it's awesome to see how far a piece of technology has come from the early stages. :P. Like a baby growing up into a adult. :3

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yep.
