factor: see below:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[36y ^{2}+49x ^{2}\]

OpenStudy (uri):

What do you think is common in 36y^2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

49= 7 36=6

OpenStudy (uri):

6y*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct

OpenStudy (uri):

7x*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct

OpenStudy (uri):

36y^2+49x^2 6y(6y)+7y(7y) (6y+7y)(6y+7y)

OpenStudy (tpaulus):

That is not factor-able, http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?t=crmtb01&f=ob&i=36y%5E2%2B49x%5E2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm so which is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not factorable or positive positve????????????????????????

OpenStudy (uri):

Can't be factored because (6y+7y)(6y+7y) =idk...lol It would have been fine if it was (6y+7y)(6y-7y)

OpenStudy (tpaulus):

uri, thoes factors would give you a middle, term. It is not a difference of squares, it just looks like it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
