Trig Problem Help: 2cos(θ)+√(3)=0 (See attached)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (psymon):

Well to start off with, isolate cos(theta) all by itself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i do that?

OpenStudy (psymon):

Well, it's inverse operations. You do it the same way that you would get x by itself in algebra. Like if I had 2x - 4 = 5. You would add 4 to both sides and divide by 2. It's the same thing with this, just act like cos(theta) is an x. That make any sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That makes sense actually I got this answer i'm not sure if its right: θ= 5π/6 + 2πn or θ= 7π/6 + 2πn

OpenStudy (psymon):

That works for me :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats the right answer?

OpenStudy (psymon):

Yep xD Looks good to me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks
