OpenStudy (anonymous):

If a point mutation occurs in a body cell so that the original sequence of mRNA of CGA changes to AGA, what will be the likely consequence?

thomaster (thomaster):

Have a look at this codon table. Check for what protein CGA and AGA code.

thomaster (thomaster):

there won't be a consequence when both codons code for the same amino acid. But when they don't code for the same amino acid, there will be consequences.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

In addition, a silent mutation occurs. meaning that the shape of the proteins being encoded wouldn't be affected, and possibly no fatal consequences will likely occur.
